Reuters reports that Turkey will restore all diplomatic ties with France, signaling an end to the break that resulted from France’s proposed law making illegal that the denial of the 1915 mass killing of Armenians by Ottoman Turks amounted to genocide. The law, passed in France’s lower house of Parliament but overturned by the country’s high court two months ago, initially saw Turkey cancel all economic, political, and military meetings with France.

Turkey accused former president Nicolas Sarkozy of attempting to earn the votes of France’s 500,000 ethnic Armenians in the recent presidential elections. The lifting of restrictions comes after new President Francois Hollande met with Turkish President Recep Erdogan.
