Tucker Carlson, editor-in-chief of the Daily Caller, complained on Thursday that he’s tired of media outlets covering his brother’s misogynistic behavior simply due to his sending one “mean email to this chick.”
Carlson was asked by the host of C-SPAN’s “Washington Journal” about a recent article by Erik Wemple at the Washington Post that was critical of his response to a lewd email sent by his brother and colleague, Buckley Carlson, last month.
Carlson said he didn’t understand why the media was so interested in his “beloved brother Buckley”.
“There’s a guy called Erik Wemple — I think that’s how you pronounce his name — total mediocrity and a moron and kind of a creepy finger sniffer-type character,” he said.
Carlson recounted the debacle in which his brother accidentally sent an email meant for Daily Caller staff to a spokeswoman for New York Mayor Bill De Blasio. In the email, Buckley Carlson called the woman “LabiaFace” and said she suffered from “dick-fright.”
“I was somehow a misogynist because my brother sent a mean email to this chick, accidentally,” he said, adding that he would never criticize a member of his own family in public.
“For some reason it became this big thing because I guess they don’t like my politics or something, I really don’t know,” he added. “I don’t really see why it was a big news story.”
Carlson rarely shies away from backing up his colleagues in the face of criticism; when a Daily Caller editor headlined an op-ed by using the phrase “Kill All The Jews,” Carlson shrugged it off and said the staffer was most likely “hungover.”
