During his regular Monday appearance on “Fox and Friends,” Donald Trump warned Republicans to proceed with caution on immigration reform because he said the United States’ 11 million undocumented immigrants will vote Democratic no matter what the GOP does.

Asked whether the border is secure enough for immigration reform, Trump said the U.S. borders are only secure from Europe. “I mean, the fact is, if you want to come from Europe, and if you want to become a citizen and you’re not here illegally and you go through the paperwork and the filing, you can’t get in,” Trump said. “And I’m saying, you know, what are we doing in this country?”

Trump added: “You know, the other thing that really bothers me is if you go to Harvard, or if you go to Yale, or if you go to the Wharton School of finance, and you’re the best student in your class, you come from another country. So we educate you. You become a great student. You’re a hard worker. The minute you’re finished, they throw you out the country, you can’t stay. And I say, nobody even talks about those things. But it’s true. If you come from certain parts of the world and you want to become a great productive, wonderful citizen of this country, it’s virtually impossible. Now, if you’re an illegal and you’re here, they’re trying to find a pathway to citizenship. I can say this, the Republicans better be careful.”

Trump made similar comments last month at the Conservative Political Action Conference. “Now I say to myself, why aren’t we letting people in from Europe?” Trump said at CPAC. “Nobody wants to say it, but I have many friends from Europe, they want to come in.”
