MSNBC and Fox News are projecting that Donald Trump will win the Republican primary in Pennsylvania.

Polls heading into the primary had shown Trump with a decisive double-digit lead over Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) there. A Fox 29 poll showed that Trump led in Pennsylvania by 20 points. But, now the real fight over delegates –the fight that could ultimately matter at a contested convention–begins.

While Trump is expected to win 17 delegates Tuesday night when he sweeps the primary, the rest of the 54 delegates are seemingly unbound. They are running to be their own free agents and are free to make up their minds on the convention floor in July if they wish. Many of them surveyed by CNN, reported they would support the frontrunner or the winner of their district-wide vote in which Trump is expected to perform well. But, the delegates could still play a major spoiler role at a contested convention if Trump makes it to the Republican convention in July without 1,237 delegates.

Trump’s ability to win over on-the fence-delegates is dependent on just how wide a victory he can squeak out Tuesday night.

With Pennsylvania under his belt, Trump is moving very close to simply winning the presidential nomination contest outright.
