One of President Obama’s top economic advisers is joining the effort to fix Obamacare’s troubled online insurance marketplace, a senior administration official told TPM.
Jeff Zients, former deputy director of the Office of Management and Budget and incoming director of the National Economic Council, will be part of the “tech surge” being coordinated to correct the website’s flaws. The news follows an earlier report Tuesday that the administration had asked Verizon to take a look at its technical problems.
Senior administration officials told reporters Monday that “fresh eyes” from both inside and outside the administration would be participating in the effort.
