The Daily Beast has tapped top Mitt Romney campaign adviser Stuart Stevens to pen a column for the site.
Stuart’s first column, “What the GOP Autopsy Proves,” appeared on the site early Thursday and argued that the explosion of Republican primary debates hurt the party during the 2012 presidential campaign. “Let’s don’t kid ourselves. These ‘debates’ have become phony entertainment spectacles not serious news events,” Stevens wrote.
“Stuart’s eclectic background and prodigious writing talent make him a wonderful addition to our team,” editor-in-chief Tina Brown wrote in a memo to staff. “He is the author of five books. His articles on politics and sports have been published in The New York Times, Esquire, Outside Magazine, and The Washington Post. He has also written extensively for television, including the Emmy Award winning series ‘Northern Exposure,’ ‘Commander in Chief,’ and HBO’s ‘K Street.'”
