Tommy Thompson demonstrated his fitness to serve in the Senate — dropping to the floor and doing 50 push-ups for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel editorial board.
Thompson has often boasted of his push-ups while out campaigning, in efforts to assuage doubts regarding his age, which is 70.
So when Thompson visited the Journal Sentinel to speak with the editorial board, we couldn’t resist asking him for a demonstration.
Thompson loosened his tie, took off his suit coat, emptied his pockets and slipped off his shoes. Then he braced his feet against the wall – admittedly a bit of a crutch – and ripped off 50 push-ups in under a minute.
The Republican primary will be held this Tuesday, Aug. 14.
