Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett has a new ad in the Wisconsin gubernatorial recall, featuring the endorsement of state Sen. Jon Erpenbach, one of the state Senate Democrats who fled the state last year in an effort to block passage of Gov. Scott Walker’s anti-public employee union legislation.

Erpenbach’s district is located in the Madison area — and Barrett’s main opponent in the Democratic primary is a big name from the Madison area, former Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk, who has also been endorsed by the major public employee unions. The primary will be held on May 8; the general election on June 5.

“When Scott Walker began the war in Wisconsin, we stood up. And it was Sen. Jon Erpenbach who helped lead the fight — making us all proud,” an announcer says at the outset.

Erpenbach then speaks to the camera:  “I’m Jon Erpenbach, and I want you to know that I’m supporting Tom Barrett for governor. Tom will restore collective bargaining for teachers and public employees and he’ll stand up for our jobs, our schools and our families. Tom Barrett will beat Scott Walker and bring Wisconsin together.”
