Former Democratic Gov. Tim Kaine raised $3 million for the Virginia Senate race during the second quarter of 2012, his campaign announced Tuesday. The campaign also announced that it has spent $3.5 million to reserve advertising time in the fall, and has $2.7 million cash on hand.
This puts Kaine well ahead financially of the Republican nominee, former Sen. George Allen, whose campaign announced a $2 million haul Tuesday, and has $3.34 million cash on hand.
Allen is also reserving $3.4 million worth of ad time for the fall — but has not actually purchased the time yet.
