Even as Mitt Romney and his running mate Paul Ryan have tried to make much of the last two days about foreign policy, Romney’s latest campaign ad presses ahead with an economic messaging, which the Romney team has insisted is still the core of the presidential campaign.
On Thursday, the Romney campaign released “Failing American Workers,” an ad focused on economic policy and China. Romney has promised to take to take on Chinese currency manipulation since the start of the campaign, a stance former ambassador to China Jon Huntsman called naive during the primaries.
“It’s time to stand up to the cheaters and make sure we protect jobs for the American people,” Romney says in the ad.
The Romney campaign declined to say where the ad is running. “We don’t discuss our ad buys – sorry!” Andrea Saul, spokesperson for the Romney campaign, told TPM.
