Rep. Todd Akin will be welcoming some special guests to campaign for him in the Missouri Senate race: Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar — the stars of the reality show “19 Kids and Counting” — plus many of their children.
Akin’s campaign against Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill has been largely disowned by national Republicans, after his false comment that women’s bodies can prevent pregnancy in cases of “legitimate rape.”
“Everybody misspeaks occasionally and says something maybe they shouldn’t have said,” Jim Bob Duggar told the Washington Times in a story published Friday, “but I really believe Todd Akin is somebody who is a proven conservative, who has a track record, that he will stand for what’s right. He’s the kind of man our family wants to get behind.”
