Coming off wins in the Texas and Oklahoma primaries, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) on Tuesday night urged the other GOP presidential candidates in the race to rally around his campaign in order to defeat rival Donald Trump.

“So long as the field remains divided, Donald Trump’s path to the nomination remains more likely,” Cruz said. “And that would be a disaster for Republicans, for conservatives and for the nation. And after tonight, we have seen that our campaign is the only campaign that has beaten, that can beat and that will beat Donald Trump.”

Cruz has beat Trump in three contests to date. In case that wasn’t clear to his audience, Cruz counted out those victories.

“We are the only campaign that has beaten Donald Trump once, twice, three times!” he said.

Cruz asked the other candidates “who have not yet won a state” to “prayerfully consider” uniting with him against Trump. At the time Cruz spoke, retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, Ohio Gov. John Kasich and Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) had yet to win any primaries or caucuses.

“Head-to-head our campaign beats Donald Trump resoundingly,” Cruz said. “But for that to happen, we must come together.”
