Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) lashed out at HBO’s vampire drama “True Blood” on Tuesday, days after it aired an episode that featured a blood-soaked fictional fundraiser held in the senator’s honor.

“Of all the places I never thought to be mentioned, HBO’s True Blood vampire show would have to be near the top of the list,” Cruz wrote on his Facebook page. “Sunday night, they aired a misogynist and profanity-ridden episode where Texas Republicans are murdered attending a ‘Ted Cruz fundraiser.'”

In an episode that aired Sunday, two vampires go undercover as Texas Republicans to attend a gala in Cruz’s honor at the George W. Bush Presidential Library in Dallas, where they hope to track down a woman who helped introduce a disease that kills vampires. The gala quickly turns violent when a gang of thugs guns down the attendees in search of the same woman.

“True Blood” has aired storylines roughly inspired by politics before, and the show’s creator has even cited Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) among his inspirations. Cruz mocked the show’s liberal streak in his Facebook post and on Twitter.

“Well, I’m sorry to have lost the vampire vote, but am astonished (and amused) that HBO is suggesting that hard-core leftists are blood-sucking fiends….” he wrote.
