The Romney campaign claimed on Monday that the Romney-Ryan ticket will fight harder than President Obama to help farmers. Earlier Monday, Obama blamed the Republican-controlled Congress and VP candidate Paul Ryan for holding up the farm bill that would help the nation’s farmers and ranchers during one of the worst droughts in 50 years. The rebuttal didn’t include any specifics for how the GOP would handle the situation, other than to note Ryan is from an “agriculture state.”

“Paul Ryan hails from an agriculture state and supported disaster relief, and the truth is no one will work harder to defend farmers and ranchers than the Romney-Ryan ticket.” Ryan Williams, a Romney campaign spokesman, said in a statement. “After nearly four years of failure, it’s no wonder that Barack Obama returns to the state that launched his presidential campaign with nothing more than broken promises and false attacks. Iowans deserve better. As president, Mitt Romney will strengthen middle-class families in the heartland, create jobs and turn our economy around.”
