A day after the National Republican Senatorial Committee deleted a distastefully worded tweet attacking Rep. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL), she fought back on Twitter by defending her record as an advocate for veterans.
After @NRSC deleted a tweet that Duckworth, an Iraq War veteran and double amputee, “has a sad record of not standing up for our veterans,” the Illinois Democrat posted a tweetstorm Wednesday about her work for veterans with the hashtag #TammyStandsForVets.

While the NRSC tweet was met with nearly universal condemnation, the committee defended its attack on Duckworth in a statement to TPM and slammed the media for covering the story.
