Philipp Humm, CEO of wireless giant T-Mobile USA, has abruptly resigned, according to a statement released by the company, All Things D reported Wednesday. T-Mobile chief operating officer Jim Alling will assume Humm’s duties until a permanent replacement can be found, according to the report.
T-Mobile, the nation’s fourth largest carrier and a subsidiary of German company Deutsche Telekom, reported adding 187,000 customers in the first quarter of 2012, but the company is still struggling to find a long-term strategy to compete after a proposed merger with AT&T was nixed by U.S. regulators in December 2011.
