Syrian opposition forces say that the Assad government has launched a fresh round of assaults on several cities as a UN team arrives to help implement a ceasefire agreement. The shelling comes at the same time that reports indicate a steady rise of refugees fleeing into neighboring Turkey. According to UN estimates, there have been at least 9,000 deaths since violence broke out last year.
