Myanmar’s main opposition leader Aung Sang Suu Kyi has met with President Thein Sein in the capital, Naypyidaw on Wednesday for a private meeting and a lunch date with Thein Sein’s family. This is her first meeting with the president after winning a seat in parliamentary by-elections that took place earlier this month. Aela Callan, reporting for Al Jazeera, noted that both leaders have been open about the need to collaborate. Suu Kyi has maintained that she will not join the government but has expressed interest in an advisory position.
