Politico’s Susan Glasser was elevated to the position of editor at the Beltway news outlet on Thursday.

The promotion of Glasser, the editor of the nearly year-old Politico Magazine, was announced in a staff memo from Politico president and CEO Jimi VandeHei, editor-in-chief John Harris and COO Kim Kingsley.

“Susan Glasser, the architect of our award-winning magazine and soon-to-be-unveiled digital platform, will be the new Editor of POLITICO,” the outlet’s leaders wrote in the memo, which was obtained by the Washington Post’s Erik Wemple. “Susan is among the smartest, most innovative and creative editors around. We are confident you will be very inspired by her passion and vision for the next phase of our journalism.”

The trio said that Glasser “will have our full authority to run our magazine, Pro and core coverage going forward” and will also name a replacement for Rick Berke, the former Politico executive editor who resigned earlier this month.
