SpaceX’s Dragon capsule successfully launched aboard the company’s Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral, Florida at 8:35 p.m. EDT on Sunday. The unmanned cargo capsule is on an historic mission to resupply the International Space Station, the first official cargo resupply mission by a private company and the first of 12 such contracted missions by SpaceX paid for by NASA. SpaceX’s Dragon made history in May by performing the first ever berthing, or unpowered docking, of a commercial spacecraft.
