South Carolina Voter ID Law Blocked For 2012

A panel of three federal judges has blocked South Carolina’s voter ID law from going into effect in November, according to a court order. The Justice Department had challenged the law under Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act. The panel ruled, however, that the law can go into effect in 2013 provided the law is implemented as described in court.
