The endless markup hearing over the the much-criticized Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) has been postponed, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) tweeted on Tuesday afternoon.
The hearing, which began Thursday, December 15 and extended a mind-shattering 15 hours, was abruptly adjourned Friday by the bill’s sponsor and the hearing’s leader, Rep. Lamar Smith (R-TX).
Initially expected to be tabled until 2012, the hearing was then just as suddenly put back on the schedule for Wednesday, December 21 at 9 am.
It is unclear when it has been postponed until. TPM has reached out to the House Judiciary Committee and will update when we receive a response.
