The second House hearing on the controversial ‘Stop Online Piracy Act’ kicked-off Thursday morning at 10 am ET with a with a tense verbal confrontation between the bill’s prominent supporters and opponents.
One of the bill’s most vehement opponents, Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) forced the House clerk to conduct a full reading of an amendement introduced by the bill’s principle author and the leader of the hearing, House Judiciary Chair Rep. Lamar Smith (R-TX).
The full reading is clearly a tactical offensive, forcing the hearing to be delayed for 45 min to an hour while the entire 70-page amendement is read word for word. You can read Chairman Smith’s amendement here.
