Some evacuation orders were lifted for neighborhoods east, north, and west of an enormous wildfire outside Colorado Springs, Colo., on Friday afternoon. Officials said firefighter crews had increased containment of the fire to 30 percent, up from 5 percent on Thursday, according to the Associated Press

“I think if you look at it as a fight, we got our tails kicked for a couple of days,” El Paso County Sheriff Terry Maketa told the AP. “I think today we delivered some blows, and we’ve got some good news to give out.”

The fire has destroyed 500 homes and killed two people.
