A new poll shows Democratic Rep. Congressmen Brad Sherman leading Democratic Rep. Howard Berman in a Los Angeles-area primary battle between the two sitting Congressmen. The poll, from the USC Dornsife College of Letters, gives Sherman a comfortable lead with 31.7 percent to 24 percent. Twenty-three  23 percent of respondents said they had not yet made up their minds.

The battle is likely to last past the primary because, under California law, the first and second primary finishers go on to the general election, regardless of party. The two candidates both chose to run in the California’s new 30th Congressional district after redistricting landed them both in the same district.

The primary is Tuesday, June 5.
