Rep. Shelley Berkley (D-NV) has her first ad in her state’s Senate race. And unlike the traditional ad, it is not a statewide buy introducing her to all voters — but a regional spot highlighting one issue, her support for veterans.

The ad features Tony Bailey, the father of an Iraq War veteran who died of a medication overdose after he was treated for post-traumatic stress disorder. Bailey touts Berkley’s work to improve care for veterans, and her sponsorship of a bill named in honor of his son.

The Associated Press reports that the ad is scheduled to start running Thursday on broadcast TV stations in northern Nevada, which Republican Sen. Dean Heller represented in the House before he was appointed to the Senate last year. Berkley, by contrast, has represented the Las Vegas area.
