The New York Times reports that British police have arrested seven men under suspicion of terrorism, picking them up near Birmingham after a routine inspection found their impounded vehicle contained “firearms, offensive weapons and other material.” The arrests bring the number of those detained over terrorism concerns to 13 within the last 24 hours.

Six of the individuals were in their mid-20s, while a 43-year-old man was arrested in connection. Officials pointed out that there is no concrete link between the individuals and the upcoming London Olympics, but Jonathan Evans, director general of MI5, recently claimed that a terrorist threat at the games was “substantial.”
