After three days of dilatory tactics, the Senate passed legislation Wednesday to fund the federal government past March 27, and avoid a government shutdown.

The final vote was 73-26. Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) didn’t vote. The legislation now returns to the House for final passage. It also clears the Senate’s plate and allows them to begin debating the Democrats’ budget resolution.
