Senate Dems Declare Victory Over House Debt Limit Vote

Senate Democrats declared victory in their standoff with Republicans over raising the debt limit at a press conference Wednesday, saying the GOP’s vote to extend Treasury’s borrowing authority another three months sets a precedent that the debt limit will not be used to extract deep spending cuts.

“The vote in the House of Representatives sets an important precedent going forward,” Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) said.
