Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) cracked a joke about how he and other Senators watched a woman scale a border fence only to be caught shortly afterwards during a recent trip to the border in his home state.
Flake’s fellow “Gang of 8” member Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) mentioned that he, Flake, and others had witnessed the apprehension.
“They knew exactly where the person climbing the fence would go. It was amazing,” Schumer said.
“I think the woman heard Senator Schumer’s accent and thought she was in New York,” Flake responded, drawing laughs from the room.
