Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-OK) weighed in on controversial comments made by Romney supporter Ted Nugent over the weekend at the NRA convention. Inhofe has a “totally different interpretation” of what Nugent meant, he said on CNN Wednesday morning.

In rallying attendees to vote for Romney, Nugent said: “If Barack Obama becomes the president in November, again, I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year.”

On CNN’s “Starting Point with Soledad O’Brien,” Inhofe said

What [Ted Nugent is] saying, I can’t figure out what people are talking about.  He’s talking about him, that Ted himself would either be dead or in jail.  How does that relate to the president?  I have a real hard time putting that together…. To me, when I first heard that, I thought this guy is so offended by what the administration is doing, if we’re going to have to have four more years of Barack Obama, maybe he will either be dead or in jail.  I put a totally different interpretation on that.
