TAMPA, Fla. — There were a lot of oppurtunities for cheering on the first real day of the Republican National Convention here Tuesday. Ron Paul supporters cheered about their guy, Mitt Romney suppporters tried to drown them out with cheers for Romney and everyone got a chance to cheer when Mitt Romney officially clinched the nomination after New Jersey voted.
But none of the cheers matched the one Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) recieved. Idolized by Republicans for surviving a recall attempt earlier this year, Walker stood to cast his delegation’s votes and the Tampa Times Forum erupted in the loudest cheer of the day. Delegates rose to their feet and kept cheering for so long that Walker had to stop talking and wait for them to finish.
