Scott Brewster, a top staffer for state Sen. Chris McDaniel’s (R) U.S. Senate campaign, is departing the campaign.

Brewster (pictured), the coalitions director for the campaign, said Monday that McDaniel’s campaign had reduced its staff only to those involved in looking into a legal challenge to fight the election results of the runoff of the race (which Cochran won).

“The campaign narrowed staff to only those that are essential to the challenge process,” Brewster said in an email to TPM on Monday. “I’m very much a supporter of Senator McDaniel and I’ll be here when he needs me again in the future.”

Brewster was also the McDaniel campaign staffer who got locked in the Hinds County courthouse (where the ballots are stored) in Mississippi on the night of the runoff. Investigations of that incident did not result in any arrests.
