Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) made a bold prediction about the immigration bill Sunday, saying “we’ll pass this Senate bill by the end of the year, even if most House members don’t think so.”

Schumer appeared on Fox News Sunday this morning–days after the comprehensive immigration bill comfortably passed the Senate with bipartisan support. The legislation faces a more uncertain future in the House.

House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) said last week that he would not take up the Senate immigration bill on the House floor, but would instead push through a House version of the bill that would likely not include a pathway to citizenship.

Schumer encouraged Boehner to take up immigration even if he doesn’t have majority Republican support.

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) was also on the show, but said he would not comment on whether he thought Boehner should waive the Hastert Rule and push through the bill without the majority of GOP House support.
