Brian Fallon, Sen. Chuck Schumer’s (D-NY) top spokesman, will leave the senator’s office to lead media operations at the Justice Department, TPM has confirmed.

The news, first reported by the Wall Street Journal, comes as Attorney General Eric Holder and the Department face a barrage of GOP investigations into their conduct over a national security leak probe.

Fallon, a well-respected operative, is expected to remain at Schumer’s office for several weeks as Congress continues to advance immigration reform legislation, which the No. 3 Senate Democrat is playing an important role in.
