Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said Sunday that he believes there will be a mark-up and debate over a comprehensive immigration reform bill in April followed by a vote in the Senate in May.
“I am very, very optimistic that we will have an agreement among the eight of us next week,” Schumer said of the eight Senators drafting the legislation, during an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” “Sen. Leahy has agreed to have an extensive markup and debate on the bill in April, and then we go to the floor in, God willing, in May,” he said.
