The Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund, the SBA List-affiliated PAC dedicated to electing anti-abortion politicians and particularly women, endorsed Sarah Steelman in the Missouri Republican Senate primary Monday. The group is framing the endorsement as a battle between the anti-abortion Steelman and EMILY’s List-supported, abortion rights supporter Sen. Claire McCaskill.
“There could not be a more clear contrast between an authentic advocate for women like Sarah Steelman and EMILY’s List darling Senator Claire McCaskill,” Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund President Marjorie Dannenfelser said in a statement. “Having voted for everything from Obamacare to taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood, Senator McCaskill has failed miserably at representing the best interests of women.”
Steelman, a former Missouri state senator and treasurer, will face Rep. Todd Akin and businessman John Brunner in the Missouri Senate primary on Aug. 7.
