Former Republican vice presidential nominee and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said that having the park that surrounds the nation’s tallest peak named Denali was “good enough.”

President Obama announced last week that the mountain, which sits in the park, would be renamed from “Mt. McKinley” to “Denali,” the Alaska Native name.

Palin told CNN’s Jake Tapper Sunday that she had one niece named “Denali” and another niece named “McKinley,” which is indicative of how there is a “bit of a split” on how Alaskans feel on the topic.

Alaska named the park “Denali National Park and Preserve” in 1980, according to CNN.

“I thought that was good enough,” Palin said.

She questioned why Obama chose now to rename the mountain, noting that “our economy still sucks.”
