Former Senator Rick Santorum is the projected winner of the Missouri Republican presidental primary, and he’s up in the Minnesota caucuses as well with 13 percent of precincts in — Santorum has nearly 44 percent of the vote so far, followed by Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) at 27, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney at 18, with former House Speaker Newt Gingrich in fourth with 12. Unlike Missouri, Minnesota will award 37 delegates tied to the vote tonight.
Gingrich was polling well in Minnesota until only about a week ago, but Santorum has taken his place at the chief alternative to the frontrunner in Romney. Coupled with his win in Missouri, Santorum continues to do well in midwestern states, as his last win in the process was the Iowa caucuses.
