One of two relatively small Super PACs that helped Rick Santorum grab his upset result in Iowa looks set to close.
The Leaders For Families Super PAC Inc. spent around $107,000 in Iowa, in part trying to get out the word that the locally influential Christian leader Bon Vander Plaats had endorsed Santorum. The groups treasurer, Charles Hurley, says that because Vander Plaats is not well-known outside the state it’s unlikely to shift its focus to other states.
The second pro-Santorum Super PAC spent over $300,000 on ads in the state. Its intentions are as yet unknown.
