Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum was the victor in the Louisiana Republican primary on Saturday night, and he immediately tried to turn the win into campaign momentum, blasting out a fundraising email as soon as the news networks called the state for him.
“A short time ago, news sources declared us the winner in Louisiana by a shocking margin,” the email reads. “A little over a week ago, the race was very tight. In spite of Romney heavily spending and campaigning there, the people of Louisiana saw through the lies and negative campaigning to vote for the authentic conservative.”
