Former Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum on Tuesday endorsed former Charleston County Councilor Curtis Bostic in the special election in South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District where Bostic is engaged in a run-off for the Republican nomination against former Gov. Mark Sanford.
“I am pleased to announce our endorsement of Curtis Bostic in South Carolina’s first congressional district,” Santorum, who is leading a group called Patriot Voices PAC, said in a statement. “Curtis’ groundswell finish to a runoff spot signals a win for the strength of his grassroots supporters and his robust conservative values. We must continue that momentum for Curtis into the runoff election, and I look forward to joining conservatives across South Carolina in helping to elect Curtis Bostic to the U.S. House of Representatives.”
Santorum plans to travel to South Carolina on Wednesday to support Bostic. A survey from Public Policy Polling Tuesday showed Sanford leading Bostic and both tied up with Democratic nominee Elizabeth Colbert Busch.
