The Santorum campaign is floating a one-on-one debate with Mitt Romney. While they’re not expressly calling for Newt Gingrich to drop out, they do believe the race has come down to Santorum and Romney.
Santorum communications director Hogan Gidley told the Huffington Post:
What we were pointing out, we were talking about debates. In ’08 when it became a two-person race, Hillary and Obama had a few one-on-one debates. Just pointing that out. I’m wondering if someone calls for that this time.
On Wednesday, The Daily’s Dan Hirschhorn tweeted that a Santorum aide said “we’ve earned the right” to a one-on-one debate.
