Appearing on This Week, Rick Santorum contrasted himself with the two frontrunners in the Republican race.
“In fact, a lot of conservatives are very concerned about the choice between Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich, because in my mind it’s not between a conservative and a moderate,” said Santorum. “It’s a choice between a moderate and an erratic conservative, who on a lot of issues has been just wrong.”
Santorum referred to Gingrich’s past support for the individual health insurance mandate, the TARP bailout, his infamous ad in which he sat on a couch with Nancy Pelosi and called for legislation on climate change, and immigration.
“These are core issues of the republican base where Newt Gingrich is absolutely wrong — and by the way, where Mitt Romney is wrong.”
