Rick Santorum delivered a speech Monday in Rochester, Minnesota — the hometown of the Mayo Clinic — to attack Mitt Romney on health care. During the speech, he also gave his strong support to the proposal by Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) to privatize Medicare.
The Ryan plan would convert Medicare, a directly government-paid health care program, into a system of vouchers for seniors to purchase private health insurance, with government support up to a certain level.
“This is a plan that President Obama says is the equivalent of throwing Grandma off a cliff,” said Santorum. “Why? Because President Obama, and Governor Romney, don’t believe that Grandma is capable of freedom.”
