Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT)’s campaign tweeted a picture from the movie “Selma” on Monday to pay homage to Bloody Sunday.

Bloody Sunday marks the day in 1965 that black civil rights activists marched across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama while sustaining beatings from the police.
Sanders’ campaign did send out other tweets related to civil rights:
The right to vote is at the heart of freedom and equality in America, and the effort to suppress it must be met by fierce resistance.

But to this day there are efforts by Republicans to make it harder for African-Americans, low-income people and senior citizens to vote.
