Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) defended the answers he gave on foreign policy at the last debate in an interview aired Sunday, saying that his judgment is a match to rival Hillary Clinton’s experience.

Sanders addressed those who criticized his responses to inquires on his foreign policy at the debate this week during an interview with NBC News’ “Meet the Press.”

“Look, there’s no question that Hillary Clinton has a great deal of
experience regarding foreign policy. She was our Secretary of State for
four years, that gives her a lot of experience,” Sanders said. “But it is not just
experience that matters, it is judgment.”

Sanders said he has had “briefing after briefing” on foreign policy and discussed the topic when he met with President Barack Obama last month. He told CNN host Chuck Todd that foreign policy was “enormously important.”

“And I will tell you this also, Chuck, if you go back to 2008, this is
exactly what the Clinton people were doing to Senator Barack
Obama,” Sanders said. “They were attacking
him, he didn’t have the experience, et cetera, et cetera. I am
absolutely confident that if elected President, we will have a very
strong foreign policy for the American people.”
