Standard and Poor’s has put major EU countries on credit watch, the AP reports. The Financial Times earlier reported the news. More than a dozen countries, including Germany and France, are on “credit watch negative.” The AP has S&P’s statement:

S&P said its decision was “prompted by our belief that systemic stresses in the eurozone have risen in recent weeks to the extent that they now put downward pressure on the credit standing of the eurozone as a whole.”
