Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) announced Wednesday that Gregg Nunziata, formerly of the Senate Republican Policy Committee, has joined his staff as General Counsel.

“I’m excited to welcome Gregg to our staff,” said Rubio in a press release Wednesday. “He brings valuable legal experience to the office and will be an important addition to our team as we look forward to serving Floridians in the months and years ahead. Gregg’s experiences on Capitol Hill will be an asset as my office looks to play an important role in passing legislation to bolster the middle class, address our nation’s broken immigration system and benefit the people of Florida.”

Background from Rubio’s announcement:

Nunziata is a Pennsylvania attorney with considerable experience in the public and private sectors. He previously served as Chief Nominations Counsel to the Senate Judiciary Committee, where he played a leading role in the confirmation of President George W. Bush’s judicial nominees, including two Supreme Court Justices.  Later he worked at the Senate Republican Policy Committee under Senator John Thune, where he provided legal analysis and policy counsel on matters relating to the judiciary, homeland security, and Senate rules. Nunziata has also served in the U.S. Department of Justice, practiced law in Philadelphia, and worked in health care consulting.  He holds an undergraduate degree from Georgetown University and a law degree from the University of Chicago. Nunziata is a member of the Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy Studies.
