Mitt Romney got his first applause of the night on a key issue: Arguing with the moderator over timekeeping.
During his answer on Iran’s nuclear ambitions, Romney was cut off after half a minute, being told that his time was up. Romney countered that he should get a minute, and he’d only gotten 30 seconds — that when he began the timekeeping light was already set to yellow.
The moderators paused, and one of them replied: “You know what, Governor, I stand corrected, you can continue.”
The audience then applauded at this small victory over authority.
